Cynthia Kitt

Cynthia Jane Kitt has been a violist with the National Symphony Orchestra since 1976. Born in Northampton, Massachusetts, she attended Mount Holyoke College for two years and then, with the encouragement of her violinist sister (who is now retired from the Pittsburgh Symphony), went on to the Curtis Institute to receive her bachelor of music degree. Some of her most influential teachers were Louise Rood, Sonya Monosoff, Nathan Gottschalk, and Max Aronoff. She credits Greenwood Music Camp in Cummington, Massachusetts as a great influence on her music career. Before joining the National Symphony, Ms.
