Metro DC Dance Awards

Metro DC Dance Awards was founded in 2000 by Cheles Rhynes and Mason/Rhynes Productions to annually recognize excellence in local dance and build community among DC-area dance artists their and organizations. Over the last nine years, evolutions to the nominating and selection process, and the resulting annual Awards show, have kept central the principle of placing artists of the community central to the process. Categories continue to be added and refined as decided by a sub-committee of the Advisory Committee of Dance/MetroDC, which became the lead organization for the Awards in 2006, and now shepherds this celebration of the region’s dance artists and their work.
