The Oklahoma Twisters (The Kennedy Center)

The Oklahoma Twisters

Pioneered by the Light Crust Doughboys, Bob Wills, Milton Brown and others, Western Swing combined hoedown fiddle, blues, and jazz into a uniquely American music.  The music flourished first in Texas and Oklahoma and came to dominate airwaves and dance floors from the Midwest to California, from the mid-1930s to the onslaught of Rock n Roll.  The Oklahoma Twisters has been performing Western Swing in the Washington, D.C. area for almost 15 years.
