Hakim (The Kennedy Center)

Hakim

Hakim Traïdia (Besbes, 1956), better known as Hakim, is a Dutch theatre artist, who among the general public (especially children) is mainly known for his role in “Sesamstraat” (Sesame Street). Hakim followed theatre and pantomime training in France and in Holland, where he has been living since 1979. Though his role in Sesamstraat brought him fame as a national kids’ hero, his performance in Sesamstraat is only the tip of the iceberg - he also performs in other shows on television and theatre, tells stories and writes books. Hakim developed a gift for telling stories during his youth in Algeria. He grew up in a world without television, where story-telling played an important role.
