The Opposite of a Train (The Kennedy Center)

The Opposite of a Train

The Opposite of a Train is a multi-instrumental trio comprised of Bill Carson (guitars, banjo, bicycle), Nathan Koci (accordion, brass, keyboards, metronome), and Ron Wiltrout (marimba, drum set, crash cymbals).Having played together in diverse settings (including new music ensembles, jazz groups and a traditional Cuban/noise rock band) the three developed an intimate collaborative dynamic and formally became a trio while composing and performing for a theatre project in 2008.Their eponymous debut represents a diversity of compositional styles and arrangements, touching on classic Italian film scores, melodic post-rock, slightly experimental chamber folk, and Salvation Army band chorales in a naturally contiguous way.
