Daegu Genius Youth Orchestra (The Kennedy Center)

Daegu Genius Youth Orchestra

Daegu Genius Youth Orchestra (DGYO) is composed of professionally trained, handpicked students all of whom are potentially superior players in their respective instrument. DGYO is a unique institution in South Korea, generously supported by Daegu Education Office since September 2005. Although the musicians are young, aged between 8 and 16 years old, they perform to the highest standards, as though professionally qualified. The orchestra has a subscription series performing at least four concerts each year in addition to various special concerts and as invited guests. Each section of the orchestra is coached by professional musicians, both Korean and from other countries throughout the world.
