NOVA Guitar Trio (The Kennedy Center)

NOVA Guitar Trio

The Northern Virginia Guitar Trio is a new and exciting chamber music ensemble of very talented and passionate young musicians. Loudoun County Public School instructors Joseph Ikner and Sam Wong formed the ensemble to help students of similar interests and ability explore music at the highest level and to help them realize their fullest potential. The two encouraged Drew Holcomb, a senior at Heritage High School, Kate Oliphant, a senior at Freedom High School, and Young Jun Lim, a sophomore at Freedom High School, to create the trio together. By late August of 2009, the group was working to master their repertoire and preparing for scholarship opportunities like the Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Award sponsored by From the Top. 'Sakura- Theme and Variations' was composed by Joseph Ikner for the Nova Guitar Trio to showcase their individual talents.
