Punahou Symphony Strings

There are currently 431 students enrolled in the orchestra program at Punahou School. The program begins in grade 5 and continues with a 6th-grade orchestra. There are three orchestras in grades 7 - 8 and three orchestras in the Academy (grades 9 – 12), the premier group being the Punahou Symphony Strings. In the past five years, the Symphony Strings have been featured on NPR's "From the Top," placed second at the National Orchestra Festival in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 2008, and have accepted an invitation from the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.
