Forró No Escuro (The Kennedy Center)

Forró No Escuro

Forró is Brazil's most popular and accessible musical style. The accordion-driven sound of Brazil's country music was born in the northeastern Ceará and Pernambuco states. This upbeat, super-catchy dance music is based around the trio of accordion, triangle, and zabumba (bass drum). The members of Forró No Escuro, some of whom have low vision, met as students and have since performed their brand of forró in hundreds of shows throughout Brazil and around the world.
