Julie Lusson’s work revolves around the idea of "thresholds," those moments of moving, spiritually, emotionally, or physically from one space into another. Her art has been exhibited in and around Miami, as well as in Cuba. Two months before graduating from Florida International University’s master of fine arts program, Lusson was diagnosed with Lou Gerig’s disease. The process of exploring her personal experience coupled with the structural development of her work culminated in the genesis of her more recent ideas and projects. The basic cyclical facts of nature—life and death, growth and regeneration—became a backdrop for a personal inquiry into her own physical deterioration.
