Halau O ‘Aulani

Since the school began, the “haumana” (students) of Halau O ‘Aulani have shared their “aloha” through dance and music recitals. They teach hula, language, arts and crafts, ukulele and anything pertaining to the heritage of Hawai’i. The keiki (children) perform dances of Hawai’i and its Polynesian neighbors featuring melodies of old and new Hawai’i sung by “Na Makua” (“parents” of the keiki).Halau O ‘Aulani was founded in 1996 by Ku’ulei Stockman and Margo Schlotterbeck for the sole purpose of creating a learning environment for students interested in the preservation of the multi-faceted cultures of Hawai’I, with primary emphasis on the Hawaiian culture. The intention of Halau O ‘Aulani is to develop the school as a perpetual entity with an educational vision for those students whose parents and grandparents have left or will leave Hawai’i and its traditions to settle on the mainland.
