Amuma Says No

From the tradition of the great Basque Bands of Jim Jausoro and Domingo Ansotegui, Amuma Says No is proud to be a part of the Basque music tradition in the western United States. With a repertoire ranging from traditional dances to modern rock from the Basque Country, "ASN" has performed at Basque festivals and events all throughout the west, including Idaho, Nevada, and Oregon. Dan Ansotegui, who plays accordion, has been part of the heart and soul of the Boise Basque community for decades. Former owner of Bar Gernika and The Basque Market, Mr. Ansotegui also serves as co-director of the Basque youth music group Txantxangorriak. Mr. Ansotegui has taught numerous classes in Basque culture, music, and cuisine for the Basque Studies program at Boise State University and currently teaches at St. Paul’s in Nampa, ID. A member of the late Jim Jausoro’s band, Mr. Ansotegui has also regularly performed with Basque bands Ordago and Gaupasa.

Jill Aldape, vocals, is past President and head instructor of the Oinkari Basque Dancers. As a member of the Cenarrusa Foundation Board of Directors and adjunct instructor of Basque Studies at Boise State University, Jill graduated from the University of Idaho and has been active in Basque and public affairs throughout her college and professional careers.

Sean Aucutt, on the pandero, spent over a year living in the Basque Country where he studied Basque music and art. As a musician and dancer for both the Oinkari and Boise Onati Basque Dancers, he has performed throughout the United States, including at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. A well known artist around the Northwest, Sean, also co-directs Txantxangorriak.

Dave Manion, on the guitar, is one of the top call musicians in Boise. Aside from his rigorous performing schedule, Dave is also one the most sought after guitar instructors in the Northwest, keeping a year round studio at the Old Boise Guitar Company.

Erik Snodgrass, bass, grew up in Grangeville, Idaho where he began performing at a young age. Graduating from the University of Idaho in 2003, Erik performed in numerous groups in Moscow, including the U of I Symphony Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Bands, Jazz Choirs, Athletic Bands, and Vandal Marching Band. Erik is an active performer throughout the Northwest.

Spencer Basterrechea Martin, on the drums, has traveled to over 30 countries as a professional drummer working for Carnival and Crystal Cruise Lines.
