Newark High School Orchestra

The Newark High School Orchestra program is the flagship program of Delaware’s Christina School District and has been recognized throughout the state and the Mid-Atlantic region for its commitment to excellence. The NHS Orchestra program provides comprehensive instruction in a cooperative learning environment on the performance of orchestral instruments and the study of music history/theory. The curriculum is supplemented with chamber music and visiting artist activities, and offers three levels of study: introductory class (Repertory Orchestra), experienced class (String Orchestra) and advanced class (Chamber Orchestra).  Students may elect to take a class for Honors Credit or participate in String Quartets. In 2010, the music program was recognized by the Grammy Foundation as a Signature School.
