Washington's Camerata

Washington’s Camerata was formed in 2009 and serves as Artists-in-Residence for the historic Washington Parish located at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church. The ensemble, featuring flutists Kelly Kazik, Alicia Kosack, and Sarah McIver, and harpsichordist Elena Tsai, offers a semi-annual concert series and seeks to promote the period flutes and historically informed performance. The group’s unique instrumentation and innovative programming bring charming and rarely heard music to life in an historic space.

Dr. Kelly Kazik is a teacher and performer of early and modern music. She has performed with Fort Worth Early Music, the Wireless Consort, and was a featured soloist with Les Petit Violons. She has earned prizes in the National Federation of Music Clubs Soloist Competition and the American Recorder Society Scholarship Competition.

Dr. Alicia Kosack enjoys a diverse career as a performer of both modern and baroque flute. She has won numerous honors, including a Maryland State Arts Council Individual Artist Award. Alicia is an active soloist and chamber musician, and is a member of the Trelumina Trio and Washington’s Camerata. She is currently on faculty at York College of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Sarah Eckman McIver can be heard in diverse performances that include historical early flute concerts, avant-garde contemporary concerts, and military concert band repertoire. She studied modern flute with Timothy Hutchins and Peter Lloyd, and baroque flute with Lisa Beznosiuk. Sarah has attended music workshops in Poland, France, and was in residence at the Banff Centre for the Arts in Canada. In 2003, Sarah joined the flute section of the US Army Field Band in Washington, DC.

Harpsichordist Elena Tsai performs as a soloist and continuo player in the Baltimore-Washington D.C. corridor. Ms. Tsai has performed with ensembles whose musical styles have ranged from renaissance to contemporary. Ms. Tsai's primary focus has been on Baroque music and the ensembles with whom she has performed include the Bach Sinfonia, Ensemble Gaudior, the Handel Choir of Baltimore, Harmonious Blacksmith, and Washington's Camerata. Ms. Tsai currently resides in Columbia, Maryland with her husband, fellow harpsichordist Joseph Gascho, their two children and four harpsichords.
