Borrowing his name from the north Indian language which he uses in his raps, Panjabi MC effectively fuses the two worlds of bhangra (a north Indian dance) and hip hop. His 2002 hit Mundian To Bach Ke, re-released as Beware of the Boys, featured hip hop mogul Jay-Z and earned him international fame. Panjabi MC has performed and earned accolades the world over, a pioneer in crossing the sound of bhangra over into the mainstream.
