Texas Children's Choir

The Texas Children's Choir brings beautiful, high quality choral music to events in San Antonio, around Texas, nationally, and internationally over the last 6 years. The choir consists of 52 children from the San Antonio area ages 8 - 15, who work very hard to prepare music for military command, civic, charitable, educational, and corporate events. Each child gives two hours of their time twice a week, and three hours monthly on Saturdays.
Locally, they have provided music for the San Antonio City Council meetings, the San Antonio Rotary Club, the Mayor's Annual Fundraising Gala for the San Antonio Children's Shelter, SAMMinistries Thanksgiving fundraising services, wounded military at Wilford Hall Medical Center, Silver Star ceremony for "Our War Hero's", and an annual presentation at the Fort Sam Houston Cemetery in "Honor Of All Who Served." They performed a Christmas concert for Brooke Army Medical Center. They have stood in rank with the Air Force Band of the West and the U.S. Army Medical Band. They provide early baroque choral music when they are featured annually with the Texas Bach Choir.They performed with the San Antonio Chordsmen along with Dave Rios in their Christmas concert. They also joined up with Dr. Stephen Ackert, Director of Music at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. to present "Art Masterpieces and Organ and Choral Music from the Romantic Period", a recital and lecture, at the San Antonio Museum of Art. The Texas Children's Choir performed two works by composers Gabriel Fauré, and Johannes Brahms.
They have been called upon to provide music for receptions and dinners for the CEO's of the YMCA, Harcourt Publishers, and the International Red Cross.
Around the State of Texas, they provided music for the Annual Texas League of Mayors, the Red Ribbon Anti-drug rallies at the State Capitol, a national diabetes convention in Dallas for Novo-Nordisk Pharmaceuticals in support of "Diabetic awareness," ceremonies for the Attorney General's Office, and a classical concert in Houston. On December, they provided the music at the National Pearl Harbor Survivor Convention in Fredericksburg, Texas, in 2008.
Nationally, they provided the music for ceremonies commemorating D-Day at the National World War II Museum in New Orleans in 2003 and 2004.
They performed a morale support show at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky, for the 101st Airborne Division and their families prior to deployment to Iraq. In addition, these singers provided music for events in Washington, D.C.: a Flag Day concert with the "Pershing's Own" U.S. Army Band on the steps of the U. S. Capitol; a commemorative service for military women veterans at the Arlington National Cemetery; and they sang for a Congressional reception by our own Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison. Additionally, they sang for the Secretary of Defense's commemoration of the end of World War II.
Internationally, they have performed concerts at cathedrals in England and France. The children sang a special choral and organ concert for the American Ambassador to France and his wife at the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris, France. Later, they presented the "Requiem" in 3 soprano parts by Gabriel Fauré Normandy Beach for the French national ceremonies in commemoration of the 60th Anniversary of D- Day. Finally, they sang for the combined White House and Department of Defense ceremonies at the National Cemetery on Normandy Beach for President Bush and the First Lady, as well as the French President Chirac on June 6, 2004.
They have been recognized for their contributions to the community of the floors of both the Texas State House of Representatives and the United States House of Representatives.
The choir was recognized for its quality when it competed in the annual American Classic Music Festival with choirs from around the United States - winning "Best in Class" for three years in a row, and "Best in Festival" the past two years.
They were selected this year as an honor choir to sing at the annual convention of the Texas Music Educators Association in the spring of 2009.
The Texas Children's Choir return from a very awesome tour with the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado, and with the "Mormon Tabernacle Choir" on its weekly broadcast of "Music and the Spoken Word" in Salt Lake City for Flag Day. During the trip they performed at the Colorado State Capitol, Utah State University, and Assembly Hall in Utah on June, 2009.
