Brian Mulligan (Lisa Kohler)

Brian Mulligan

Brian Mulligan is the 2006 winner of the International Hans Gabor Belvedere Vocal Competition, only the third American in the competition's history to win this coveted prize. He has been praised by Opera News for his "velvety, evenly and effortlessly produced baritone and nuance-rich phrasing" and by Opera Now for his "commanding presence [and] booming sound." A busy 2010/11 season brings Brian Mulligan back to the San Francisco Opera as Albert in Werther, directed by Francisco Negrin and conducted by Emmanuel Villaume as well as Ragueneau in Cyrano de Bergerac in a new production by Petrika Ionesco and conducted by Patrick Fournillier followed by Sharpless in Madame Butterfly in Harold Prince's production, conducted by Julian Kovatchev. He will also appear at Opera Theatre of St. Louis as the title role in John Adams The Death of Klinghoffer.
