One of the world's most influential and prolific directors of opera, David Alden has recently received the prestigious ‘South Bank Show Award' for his production of Britten Peter Grimes and the ‘Olivier Award' for Janácek Jen?fa at ENO, a production which was shared with Houston Grand Opera and Washington National Opera. He also received the ‘Bavarian Theatre Prize for Individual Artistic Achievement', marking a long time relationship with the Bayerische Staatsoper.
David's recent engagements include Handel's Radamisto at ENO, La finta giardiniera at Theater an der Wien, Katja Kabanova at Teatro Nacionale de Sao Carlos, Lisbon, Lucia di Lammermoor at Gothenburg Opera, Luisa Miller at Opera de Lyon, Pelléas et Melisande at Opera Theater of Saint Louis.
