Joel Prieto

Since his triumphant victory as the 2008 first prize winner of Placido Domingo's Operalia Competition, Joel Prieto has become much sought-after around the world. Still in his 20s, the Spanish-born singer, raised in Puerto Rico, is captivating audiences bringing depth and nuance to his leading roles and infusing his characters with vitality, elegance and beauty.      Joel Prieto begins the 2010/11 season with performances of his signature role of Ferrando in Cosi fan tutte at the Grand Theatre in Luxembourg, a role he later reprises for Palm Beach Opera, in his company debut. An important highlight of this season is his company debut at the Liceu Barcelona as Fenton in Falstaff. Further appearances include performances as Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni at the Salzburg Festival where he was invited to sing the role again after his successful debut in 2010.
