Italian mezzo-soprano Sonia Ganassi was last seen at WNO as Angelina in La Cenerentola in 2004, a role she also performed at WNO in 1993. She will return to WNO next season as Giovanna Seymour in Anna Bolena. She regularly appears at the most prestigious theaters in the world, including the Metropolitan Opera, Royal Opera House, Teatro alla Scala, Teatro Real in Madrid, Barcelona's Liceu, and the Bayerische Staatsoper; collaborating with conductors such as Riccardo Chailly, Riccardo Muti, Myungwhun Chung, Daniele Gatti, Antonio Pappano, and Daniel Barenboim. In 1999 the Italian music critics awarded her with the Premio Abbiati. Recent and future engagements include Ravel's L'heure espagnole and Hindemith's Hin und zurück in Ancona; Roberto Devereux in Munich and Rome; Maria Stuarda in Naples and Bilbao; Werther in Parma, Madrid, and Oviedo; Norma in Madrid and Munich; Verdi's Requiem in Monte Carlo and Buenos Aires on tour with Teatro alla Scala; Moïse et Pharaon in Rome; Anna Bolena in Barcelona; Ernani in Bari; Lucrezia Borgia in Munich; and I Capuleti e i Montecchi in Salerno.
