Claudia Huckle

British contralto Claudia Huckle studied at the Royal College of Music, The New England Conservatory and The Curtis Institute of Music. She was the 2004 Grand Final winner of The Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and is a graduate of the prestigious Domingo-Cafritz Young Artist Program at Washington National Opera. Claudia is currently a member of the Leipzig Opera, where her roles include Olga in Eugene Onegin; Hänsel in Hänsel und Gretel; Third Lady in Die Zauberflöte; Clarice/Linetta in Prokofiev's The Love for 3 Oranges; Voice from above and Flower Maiden in Parsifal; Flora in La Traviata; Flosshilde in Das Rheingold; First Maid in Elektra; Schwertleite in Die Walküre; Venus in Kurt Weill's One Touch of Venus and Singer in Puccini's Manon Lescaut. Other current and future plans include the title role in Britten's The Rape of Lucretia in a new production by Fiona Shaw for Glyndebourne on Tour; Olga in Eugene Onegin in a new Deborah Warner production for English National Opera; Smeton in Donizetti's Anna Bolena for Washington National Opera and Hänsel und Gretel for Garsington Opera.
