Anne Sofie von Otter
One of the finest singers of her generation, mezzo-soprano Anne Sofie von Otter is renowned for her diversity and artistry. Her high-profile career, spanning more than three decades, has seen her perform at the world's most important venues and festivals, and produced an unrivalled and multi-award-winning discography. She gained an international reputation as an outstanding Octavian in Strauss's Der Rosenkavalier, with performances at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Bayerische Staatsoper, Opéra national de Paris, and the Wiener Staatsoper. She also performed the role as part of a series of engagements with James Levine and The Metropolitan Opera. Other recent highlights have included her title role debut in Charpentier's Médeé for Oper Frankfurt; concert performances of Handel's Tamerlano opposite Plácido Domingo at Gran Teatre del Liceu; and a return to Theater Basel (from where her international career was launched) for Offenbach's La Grande-Duchesse de Gérolstein.
