Norman Garrett

American baritone Norman Garrett is in his first season of WNO’s Domingo-Cafritz Young Artist Program. He was seen earlier this season at WNO as Masetto in Don Giovanni (Domingo-Cafritz Young Artist Performance) and in the premiere performance of the American Opera Initiative. A graduate of the Academy of Vocal Arts, he made his Glimmerglass Festival debut in the summer of 2012 covering Amonasro in Aida and Le Haine in Armide. He has been seen on stage with Kentucky Opera and Cincinnati Opera, and more recently with Philadelphia Center City Opera Theater, where he has sung such roles as Marcello (La bohème), Almaviva (Le nozze di Figaro), Malatesta (Don Pasquale), and Guglielmo (Così fan tutte). He won the 2011 Audience Choice Award at the Dallas Opera Guild Competition, and is also a Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions winner at the district level.
