Melanie Riffee
Melanie Riffee (Apprentice) had her early ballet instruction with Oleg Tupine and Tania Rousseau in Springfield, Virginia, and went on to train on scholarship at The Washington School of Ballet, Maryland Youth Ballet and Boston Ballet School. She attended Exploring Ballet with Suzanne Farrell in 2007 and 2008 and was selected for The Kennedy Center Master Class Series for three seasons. Melanie also participated in a scholarship exchange program with Canada's National Ballet School and studied with American Ballet Theatre. In 2008, Melanie joined Boston Ballet as a Trainee and became a member of Boston Ballet II in May 2010. She danced with the company for four seasons, and also performed on Boston Ballet's Summer 2010 Spain Tour.

Her repertoire includes Balanchine's Ballo della Regina, Coppelia, Emeralds, The Four Temperaments, A Midsummer Night's Dream and Symphony in Three Movements. She also danced multiple roles in Mikko Nissinen's The Nutcracker, Sergeyev's The Sleeping Beauty, Cranko's Romeo & Juliet, Nureyev's Don Quixote and Lander's Etudes. Melanie originated roles in Jorma Elo's One Concerto and Yury Yanowsky's The Eighth Layer. She danced principal roles in Balanchine's Scherzo a la Russe and Bournonville's Konservatoriet. Melanie is delighted to return to The Kennedy Center in her first season with The Suzanne Farrell Ballet.
