Alice Peacock (The Kennedy Center)

Alice Peacock

Alice Peacock grew up in a suburb of St. Paul, Minnesota. Her grandmother, Grita Albrecht Gnass, had been a cabaret star and composer in Berlin before the Second World War. Her grandfather, Fritz Gnass, was a miner-turned-actor who appeared in Fritz Lang’s classic film, “M,” and was part of Bertold Brecht’s fabled Berliner Ensemble. Peacock majored in theater at Lawrence College in Appleton, WI, and moved to Los Angeles after college, eventually ending up in Chicago and becoming part of the folk scene at the Old Town School of Folk Music.
