Anansegromma

Native Ghanaians Kofi Denis and Kwame Ansah-Brew, collectively known as Anansegromma, are instructors at Goucher College and the University of Maryland where they have organized numerous workshops and seminars for the university’s Dance Department. Anansegromma explores the traditional music, storytelling, and dances of a typical Ghanaian village. Through “call-and-response” songs, games, rhythms, and the employment of authentic instruments, the two performers explore the rich heritage of West Africa. Anansegromma has appeared at The Smithsonian Folklife Festival, The National Zoo, Artscape ’98/ Baltimore, and the Virgin Islands Folklife Festival. The duo has also performed at schools, libraries, and community centers throughout West Africa and the United States.
