Aterciopelados

Andrea Echeverri, lead singer Hector Buitrago, bass Alejandro Gomezcacares, guitar Mauricio Montenegro, drums Jose Vazquez, percussion Colombia's Aterciopelados (the Velvety Ones) weave an eclectic mix of sounds into a musical experience inspired by their passion for experimentation and love of a joyously rich musical heritage. Andrea Echeverri's poetic, socially conscious lyrics and Hector Buitrago's knack for creating a musical melting pot of Latin rhythms, Colombian folk, and electronic sensibilities define their style. Aterciopelados are currently on tour in support of Evolución, a greatest hits collection featuring three new songs. The release marks the follow up to their Grammy®-nominated fifth album Gozo Poderoso (Powerful Joy), which won the Latin Grammy® for Best Rock en Español Album. (Their Latin Grammy® statuette is currently on display at the National Colombian Museum thanks to a suggestion from one of their fans).
