The acoustic pop group Fruit is on its way to becoming one of the biggest acts from Down Under. The Adelaide-based group has performed all across Australia, North America, Brazil and Germany and performed five sold-out shows at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Mel Watson (vocals, horns, guitar) has over a dozen awards for her musical achievements, event and video production and outstanding performance on horns. Watson has been compared to the likes of Prince, Sade, kd lang, and Annie Lennox.
Catherine Oates (bass guitar, vocals) has performed as a percussionist with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, for the State Theatre Company, the Australian Dance Theatre, and as a freelancer for numerous other ensembles and bands. She has also composed and performed scores and soundtracks for theater and dance companies.
Susie Keynes (acoustic/electric guitar, vocals) is a songwriter who has been a finalist in the SCALA FOOM Songwriting Competition, 1995; a co-winner of the SCALA FOOM Songwriting Award, 1996; and a SAMIA Award nominee for Most Outstanding Vocalist in 1997 and 1998.
Sam Lohs (songwriter, acoustic guitar, percussion, vocals) began her musical career busking in Canberra at age 17. She has been nominated for 1997-98 songwriter and 1998 vocalist at the SAMIA awards; supported and played with the Indigo Girls; and has released a solo album called ô6 Degrees.ö
Yanya Boston (drums) made his first public performance on drums at age 14. In addition he plays guitar and piano and sings. He recently became involved in writing soundscapes and music for theatrical productions. A versatile performer, Boston is at home with African, reggae, soul jazz-funk, rock, R&B and hip-hop.
