Belen Calingacion

Belen Calingacion will perform a dance-theatre piece with Kinding Sindaw, a New York-based Philippine indigenous dance-theatre ensemble at the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage performance on Thursday during the conference. It is an excerpt based on Lemlunay, a sacred Tiboli epic, which tells of the saga of Tudbulol, a prince with seven sisters who are bestowed with individual magical powers. Tudbulol has to be born in order to vanquish the evil king Kayong Busaw who would like to steal the wealth of Lemlunay and enslave its people. The performance will encompass dance rituals, chants, and a battle with the evil forces through Silat, an ancient martial art form. Dr.
