This dynamic vocal duo has been entertaining Washington area audiences in both full concert and as after-dinner entertainment since 1995. Vocal versatility coupled with masterful piano orchestrations enables this trio to perform the wonderful music of Broadway, all the way from Carousel, Oklahoma and Brigadoon, to Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera and Miss Saigon.
Both singers display a vocal versatility that allows them to perform an extensive repertoire from grand opera to Broadway, Big Band to Pop. Soprano, Beverly Benda completed her coursework for DMA in Performance & Literature while on the faculty of Eastman School of Music and was awarded their prestigious Performer’s Certificate. She has appeared with such organizations as the Rochester Oratorio Society, the Rochester Light Opera, the National Cathedral Choral Society, the McLean Orchestra, the Greenville Symphony, and the National Symphony Orchestra in opera, concert and musical theatre roles. She has applied her talents as well to film soundtracks, most recently in the latest Star Wars film.
Tenor, Michael Ford, a native of Tennessee, is a graduate of Austin Peay University and a favorite soloist in the Washington, DC area. He has performed major roles with such organizations as the Arlington Metropolitan Chorus, New Dominion Chorale, Washington Bach Consort and Paul Hill Chorale. He has also appeared regionally with the Chicago Symphony Chorus, Knoxville Opera and Symphony, and the Brevard Opera. Michael has won several competitions including the Annapolis Vocal Competition.
Pianist, Joseph Holt, is an internationally known pianist. He is an Artist Member of the Chamber Artists of Washington, pianist with the United States Army Band (Pershing’s Own) pianist and associate conductor for the Choral Arts Society of Washington, and a Baldwin Concert Artist. He has appeared in recital with orchestras and in recital in North America, Europe and the Middle East.
Broadway Then & Now has delighted private and corporate audiences such as The Aspen Institute, Meridian Investments, and The Toronto Board of Tourism in venues ranging form the Ritz Carlton and Maison Blanch to Strathmore and Constitution Halls.
