Bernice Lewis

Bernice Lewis is a fixture on the coffeehouse circuit, contemporary-folk radio and at major folk festivals. She studied vocal improvisation with Bobby McFerrin, guitar technique with Alex DeGrassi and Guy van Duser, and songwriting with Roseanne Cash and Cris Williamson. Lewis has been a featured performer on National Public RadioÆs ôMountain Stage,ö and was a finalist in the 1987 New Folk Songwriting Contest at the Kerrville Folk Festival. Her new ballad, ôBridges That Hold,ö was included in the PBS-TV ôLifelinesö documentary starring Peter, Paul and Mary. A native of Boston, Lewis has been based in the Berkshire Hills of western Massachusetts for the last ten years.
