Bollo Mah Kissy

After fleeing the apartheid regimes of South Africa some 14 years ago, Grammy Award winner Clarabelle van Niekerk realized that one thing she missed was the music of her homeland. Blending township rhythms, xhosa, Zulu and even some Afrikaan melodies, this eight-piece world-beat band whips up an infectious brew, driven by horns, strings and percussion. Bollo Mah Kissy (ôsomersaultö in Afrikaan) were featured at the 1998 Klein Karoo National Arts Festival in Outshooren, South Africa, and recently released a self-titled CD that showcases the band's musical and imaginative range.
