Claude Brumachon and Benjamin Lamarche After attending evening classes at the School of Fine Arts of the city of Rouen, Claude Brumachon discovered dance. His first important work as a performer began in 1978 with Rouen's Ballets de la Cité , where he remained two years. In 1980, he began choreographic research with Benjamin Lamarche, who would become his preferred performer and a collaborator in all his creations. He composed his first choreographic pieces at this time, Niverolles Duo du Col (1982) and Il y a engoulevents sur la branche d'à côté [There are Nightjars on a Nearby Branch] (1983). He won three different prizes at the choreographic competition of Bagnolet with Atterrissages de corneilles sur l'autoroute du sud [ Crow Landings on the Highway to the South] .
