Margaret Leng Tan

Hailed as "the world's premiere string piano virtuoso," pianist Margaret Leng Tan honors the 70th birthday of George Crumb in "Crumb at Christmas." Her performance features Crumbs' A Little Suite for Christmas, and Makrokosmos, Volume I, Twleve Fantasy Pieces after the Zodiac.The first woman to graduate with a Doctor of Music from Juilliard, Margaret Leng Tan has since evolved a radically individual performance style fusing sound, choreography and drama. Hailed as "the world's premiere string piano virtuoso" and "the diva of avant-garde pianism" (New York Times), she is known for her performances of Asian and American music that defy the conventional boundaries of the instrument. She is closely identified with the work of John Cage.
