Jacqueline Kennedy Collection Dual Strand Pearl NecklaceJacqueline Kennedy had many strands of pearls, yet surprisingly all of them were faux pearls. She did not own and strands of precious pearls in her entire jewelry collection. In that era, most of the "pearls" worn by royalty and socialites in both Europe and the United States were actually made of glass beads.
This necklace was an heirloom from the Auchincloss side of her family. It was given to Jackie sometime between 1952 and 1954 by her aunt, a sister of Hugh D. Auchincloss. Hugh became Jackie's stepfather when she was eleven years old.
