Jacqueline Kennedy was married to Aristotle Onassis from October, 1968 until his death in 1975. 

Onassis was one of the wealthiest men in the world, and enjoyed giving Jackie the most extravagant gifts, even when there was no special occasion.  He didn’t like to give gifts in a box, he preferred to surprise her in fun and creative ways.  In 1971, he purchased these earrings and a matching bracelet at Cartier in Paris, and gave it to Jackie on her breakfast tray.  The chef hollowed out her roll and hid the jewelry inside for her to find.
