This quarter scale Carmen costume has been created by renowned costume designer Vin Burnham.

This costume has a practical corset made from period textiles and contemporary woven silks. The underskirt is made from multiple shot silk strips, shaded into the waist and hem, and overlaid withdistressed silk tulle. The shawl around her waist is made from fine 'turban' cotton, printed with tiny sprigs, bordered with a hand knotted fringe of multi coloured strands.Her shoulder wrap is gossamer fine silk, printed with a subtle gold motif. It is fringed with ombreed shreds and an edging of contemporary and 1920's gelatine sequins. The costume has been 'broken down' to look lived in.

Each costume Ms Burnham creates is hand made to order. You can expect it will take between 4 and 6 weeks for your costume to be completed. Occasionally a long production time it required; we will notify you should such a delay occur.

This costume is hand made and no two costumes will be identical. Please note that no additional discounts will be applied.

Ms Burnham started her career in London at Covent Garden in the Fonteyn and Nureyev era, making costumes and props for designers Nicholas Georgiadis, Yolanda Sonnabend, David Walker, Julia Trevelyan Oman, Maria Bjornson, Barry Kay, and Sally Jacobs.

She is now an international award winning costume designer working mainly in film and television.  Her costumes can be seen on stage at the Royal Opera House in London; her mouse costumes in Peter Wright’s ‘The Nutcracker’, masks in Andre Serban’s ‘Turandot’, dwarf costumes in Anthony Dowell’s ‘Swan Lake’, and headdresses in Kenneth MacMillan’s ‘Gloria’.
