It was always with great thought and care that John F. Kennedy chose gifts for Jacqueline, most especially jewelry.  He would often have pieces custom made by the finest jewelers to express his love for her.

This ring was a gift from John to Jackie for their eighth wedding anniversary.  As John expressed in his note that came with the ring, the eight diamonds on the ring are progressively larger because he loved her more and more.
