Job Title: Web Developer

Duties:
This position is part-time. The Web Developer position is charged with assisting with and participating in the coding and development of database-driven browser-based software and interactive functions, incorporating content from multiple internal and external sources into The Kennedy Center’s applications, upholding coding and architecture standards and maximizing the customer experience and usability of the websites. The Web Developer works with other team members to ensure that appropriate performance, system/database load, bandwidth and security requirements are met.

The Web Developer will work with the IT, IS and programming staff to create, update and maintain browser-based software on the Kennedy Center's internal and external websites consistent with Kennedy Center business applications and architecture. The developer will utilize the Kennedy Center's custom content management systems using development environments such as HTML, XHTML,, CSS, ActionScript, Ajax, JavaScript, and ColdFusion.

Responsibilities Include:

Review, update and/or revise web pages according to established coding and architecture standards, with a focus on automation and code reuse.

Design secure web applications, including techniques that prevent known exploits.

Create software that functions properly on multiple operating systems and browsers and meets legal and accessibility requirements, following established best practices where applicable.

Maintain adequate and up-to-date design and procedure documentation as part of the departmental procedures manual and adhere to IT Change Management processes.

Assist Interactive Web Developer with coding efforts.
Education/Experience/Skills
Expertise with HTML & CSS software development. Strong Knowledge of W3C Web standards, strong knowledge of accessibility requirements and programming techniques. Strong problem solving and organizational skills. Strong knowledge of Dreamweaver, Photoshop, ActionScript. Remain informed as new technologies, software, standards, and best practices become available and educate fellow staff members on those changes.
