|This position will assist in the pattern making, construction, fitting, alteration, and refurbishment of costumes for all WNO productions, galas, concerts, and events. Contribute to the efficient and professional execution of work performed in the Costume Workroom.
Measure costumes for all rented and remounted productions as assigned; supervise and instruct Stitchers in the construction and completion of each costume.
Assist the Draper in costume fittings for each production as assigned, ensuring that every performer is reasonably comfortable in the costume.
Communicate costume notes to the Draper for review and to the Studio Administrator for compilation; provide the Wardrobe Supervisor and wardrobe personnel with specific dressing instructions when appropriate.
Provide a safe and comfortable working environment for all staff and volunteers with a clean and organized workspace.
Assist with the organization and storage of all patterns, fabrics, trims and supplies.
|Bachelor’s Degree in theater or comparable professional experience, with training in costume design, production, patternmaking, and tailoring.Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.Working knowledge of costume history.Proficient knowledge of various costume construction skills, including sewing, cutting, patternmaking, and tailoring.Proficiency in the operation of all costume workroom equipment.|
