Nnenna Freelon's FREE CONCERT Presented on the Millennium Stage October 30, 1998 Concert Highlights Available |
On Friday, October 30 1998, Grammy-nominated jazz vocalist Nnenna Freelon performed a free concert on the Kennedy Center's Millennium Stage. Her group includes Nnenna Freelon, vocalist; (Ms.) Takana Miyamoto, pianist; Wayne Batchelor, bassist, Will Terrill, drummer, Beverly Botsford, percussionist.
As part of its Performing Arts for Everyone initiative, the Kennedy Center presents free performances every day of the year on its Millennium Stage in the Grand Foyer. These performances of music, dance, and theater begin at 6 p.m. and last about one hour; they feature artists and ensembles from the Washington area and around the world. No tickets are ever required; seating is on a first-come, first served basis.
In addition to her performance at the Kennedy Center, Nnenna Freelon and her group presented programs for students in selected metro-Washington, DC area schools. Ms. Freelon also was guest speaker at a Kennedy Center Alliance for Arts Education luncheon during the week.
