The 2016 National Symphony Orchestra Season Opening Gala
Sunday, September 25, 2016
Denise Grant and Franklin Raines
Mr. and Mrs. Michael R. Mayton, Co-Chairs

We hope you will join us on Sunday, September 25 for our Season Opening Gala as we usher in a new year with a festive and exciting benefit evening. This year we not only pay tribute to Maestro Christoph Eschenbach's final season as Music Director, but also recognize the historic event taking place in Washington the same weekend: the opening of the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture.

Joining piano virtuoso Lang Lang, will be NSO Principal Pops Conductor Steven Reineke conducting 16 time Grammy nominee American R&B singer-songwriter Brian McKnight and American jazz singer Nnenna Freelon.  In addition, these artists will perform a newly composed work by American film composer Mervyn Warren in celebration of this important occasion.

Different than in previous years, this year, guests will enjoy cocktails and dinner on the roof terrace level of the Kennedy Center before the performance while dancing and dessert will follow the concert.

As the single largest fundraising event for the NSO, all proceeds of the evening provide critical support for the Orchestra's many artistic, education, and community engagement programs throughout the year. Furthermore, all contributions to the Gala count towards eligibility to purchase tickets to the Kennedy Center Honors on December 4.

If you would like more information on the NSO Season Opening Gala, please call (202) 416-8102 or e-mail us.
