Nearly 50 years ago, the composer dedicated this work to the late Mstislav Rostropovich, the NSO's beloved Conductor Laureate.Guest maestro Roberto Minczuk - a protégé of Kurt Masur - also conducts another Russian favorite: Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade, a dazzling evocation of 1,001 Arabian Nights.
