The National Symphony Orchestra will bring its community engagement program to downtown D.C. from January 5–11, 2016. The NSO and its members will fan out, performing full orchestra concerts, in-school visits, chamber performances, artistic exchange, instrument petting zoos, and a range of classes, in schools, churches, community centers, night clubs, and performing arts venues that reflect the makeup of the neighborhood. More than 30 free events will be presented, including two concerts at the Smithsonian American Art Museum, and a chamber music performance at Sixth & I Historic Synagogue.
The National Symphony Orchestra 2015-2016 season includes two world premiere concertos, residencies by Nikolaj Znaider and Nathalie Stutzmann, New Kennedy Center Composer-in-Residence Mason Bates, distinguished soloists and conductors, plus Pops concerts from Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers, Boyz II Men, Rajaton, and more.
