Kennedy Center National Patrons

Comprised of leading arts supporters from across the nation, the Kennedy Center National Patrons play a critical role in advancing the Kennedy Center's mission to foster greater understanding and appreciation of the performing arts in every corner of America.

Since 1971, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts has served as America's national cultural center.

To fulfill this important role and honor the legacy of President John F. Kennedy, the Kennedy Center works tirelessly to encourage interest and excellence in the performing arts in three crucial ways.

  1. Promoting Effective Educational Partnerships.
  2. Presenting a Variety of Performances and Events.
  3. Nurturing Young Artists.

As America's national cultural center, the Kennedy Center works to cultivate greater understanding and appreciation of the performing arts through a wide variety of programs in every state.

Each year, the Center helps to inspire more than 11 million Americans through thousands of performances, events, and programs such as:

  • Changing Education Through the Arts, empowering teachers to learn new strategies to teach arts programming and integrate the arts with other subject areas.
  • Ensuring the Arts for Any Given Child, helping communities develop and implement strategic plans to ensure that every K-8 student has access to arts education.
  • Explore the Arts, allowing adult audiences to gain a greater understanding of the arts through participatory workshops, demonstrations, master classes, open rehearsals, and more.
  • Intensive Artist Training Programs, such as the NSO Summer Music Institute, Exploring Ballet with Suzanne Farrell, the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival, and the WNO Domingo-Cafritz Young Artist Program.
  • Millennium Stage, showcasing free performances every single day at the Kennedy Center, featuring more than 26,000 performers from all 50 states and more than 40 countries since its inception in 1997.
