Sokvannara Sar (Corps de ballet) is from Siem Reap, Cambodia where he trained and performed with the Wat Bo School of Traditional Dance. In 2000, Sy traveled to the U.S. to train at the School of American Ballet, San Francisco Ballet School, Miami City Ballet School, and Pacific Northwest Ballet School. He joined Pacific Northwest Ballet in 2006 where he performed featured roles in works by Balanchine, Forsythe, Tharpe, and Stowell. Sy also performed with Chaktamouk Theater in Phnom Penh in honor of the US Embassy inauguration in 2006; later that year he became a semifinalist in the International Ballet Competition at Varna. At the 2008 and 2010 Vail International Dance Festivals he premiered works by Benjamin Millepied and Larry Keigwin. Sy is the subject of the documentary Dancing Across Borders. This is Sy's first season with The Suzanne Farrell Ballet.
