September 11, 2010 – September 19, 2010


Preliminary Information:

No Purchase Necessary. A Purchase Will Not Increase Your Chances Of Winning. Void where prohibited. You must be 18 years of age or older as of September 11, 2010 to enter. Odds of winning depend on number of entries received. Contest begins at noon on September 11, 2010 and ends at 11:59 p.m. on September 19, 2010 (“Contest Period”). All times during this Contest refer to Eastern Standard Time ("EST").



This Contest is sponsored by The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts (the “Sponsor” or the “Kennedy Center”).


To Enter:

To enter this Contest, send an email with one photograph taken of the 2010 Kennedy Center Open House Arts Festival to, along with your full name, city, preferred email address and phone number. Each email should contain a single photograph. Up to three photo entries will be accepted per person. You may also enter a single time by emailing the above information with no photograph. Entries not containing a photograph will be treated the same as photo entries in the final drawing. All entries and attached photographs become the property of the Kennedy Center and will not be acknowledged or returned. All entries must be received no later than 11:59 pm on September 19, 2010 to be eligible for the period’s drawing.


Any attempt by an entrant or any other individual to deliberately undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest is a violation of criminal and civil laws and should such an attempt be made, the Kennedy Center reserves the right to seek damages and/or other remedies from any such person to the full extent permitted by law.


Image Guidelines:

Photographs must be attached in .jpg format and no larger than 2 Mb in size. Each photograph must be your own and taken during the 2010 Open House Arts Festival. Although cropping is permissible, digital alterations or enhancements are discouraged. No copyrighted images will be accepted and you must have the permission of all readily identifiable individuals, other than performers or crowd shots, who appear in the photos. Please note no photography is allowed inside the theaters. Note that while entries which include the bust of John F. Kennedy in the Kennedy Center Grand Foyer will be considered for the prize drawing, they will not be displayed on the Kennedy Center’s Flicker page.


Use of Submitted Images:

By submitting a photo, you give the Kennedy Center permission to post that photo on its Flickr page (, and to use your photograph in future promotional materials and to have your name (first name only) and city shared along with your picture in our online photo album.


Selection of Winner And Eligibility:

One winner will be selected in a random drawing under the supervision of the Marketing Department of the Kennedy Center from all eligible entries on or about September 24, 2010, and will be notified via the email address or telephone number provided in the entry form within 14 days of the drawing. By entering the Contest, entrants agree to waive any right to claim any ambiguity or error in these Official Rules, or the Contest itself, and agree to be bound by these Official Rules and by all decisions of the Sponsor, whose decisions are binding and final. Winners may be required to sign and return to Sponsor an affidavit of eligibility and liability and publicity release within 14 days of notification. If any prize notification is returned as undeliverable, or if winner is unable to be reached after two weeks from the date of notification, or if winner is unable accept the prize offered, or in the event of non-compliance with any of these Official Rules, the prize will be forfeited, and an alternate winner will be selected from the remaining eligible entries based on the above stated criteria. Employees of the Kennedy Center, its Open House Media Partners, vendors and their respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliate organizations and companies, as well as their respective advertising and promotion agencies and members of their immediate families (spouses, parents, children, and siblings and their spouses) and/or persons living in the same households as such persons are not eligible to enter the Contest.



There will be one Prize awarded consisting of the following: one pair of tickets to a performance of the NSO Pops “A Date with Idina Menzel,” October 28-30, 2010 at the Kennedy Center. Tickets are for a single evening performance among those listed above and are subject to availability. Total Prize value is approximately $150. Tickets must be used on dates and times designated by Sponsor or prize will be forfeited in its entirety and awarded to an alternate winner. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a similar prize of equal or greater value at its sole discretion. All taxes and all other expenses, costs or fees associated with the acceptance and/or use of any prize, including, but not limited to, transportation, are the sole responsibility of the winner. This Prize cannot be transferred by winner or redeemed for cash and is valid only for the services detailed above, with no substitution of Prize by winner. In the event this Contest is terminated before all prizes are awarded or if any prize is forfeited or unclaimed, Sponsor will randomly select from remaining eligible entries an alternate winner for all remaining prize elements, which may be substituted with a similar prize of equal or greater value at Sponsor’s sole discretion. Winner’s companions may be required to complete a liability and publicity release which must be returned with each Winner’s affidavit of eligibility and liability release, or the prize will be forfeited and alternate winner selected. If the Winner’s guest is a minor, his/her parent or legal guardian must complete the release on the guest’s behalf.



Winner assumes all liability for any injury or damages caused or claimed to be caused by Winner's participation in the Contest and/or the acceptance and/or use of any prize and releases the Kennedy Center, its officers, trustees and employees, subsidiaries and affiliates ("Released Parties") as well as its media partners, advertising and promotion agencies from any such liability, even if caused by their negligence. Released Parties assume no responsibility for any injury or damage to participants or to any other person's computer relating to or resulting from entering or downloading materials or software in connection with this Contest. Released Parties are not responsible for technical, hardware, software, or telephone malfunctions of any kind, lost or unavailable network connections, or failed incorrect, incomplete, inaccurate, garbled or delayed electronic communications caused by the user or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in this Contest or by any human error which may occur in the processing of the entries in this Contest. Entry constitutes permission (except where prohibited by law) to use winner's name, city, state, likeness and/or voice for purposes of advertising, promotion and publicity without additional compensation. Entries will be declared made by the individual whose name appears on the entry.

Sponsor is not responsible for telecommunications, network, electronic, technical or computer failures of any kind, for inaccurate transcription of entry information, errors in any promotional or marketing materials, errors in these rules, for any human or electronic error, including but not limited to the administration of this Contest or prizes, or for entries that are stolen, misdirected, garbled, delayed by computer transmissions, lost, late, damaged, or postage due. All entries become the property of the Kennedy Center and will not be acknowledged or returned.


Additional Rules:

Sponsor reserves the right to withdraw the transmission of this Contest and award the Prize from among eligible entries received prior to the date of the withdrawal. Failure to comply with these rules may result in disqualification from this Contest. Sponsor reserves the right to permanently disqualify from the Contest any person it believes has violated these rules. The Kennedy Center reserves the right to alter/revise any and/or all elements, prize packages, dates, etc. of any said promotion, due to unforeseen circumstances, beyond its control, i.e. , emergency programming interruptions, discontinued services, etc.

The failure of Sponsor to comply with any provision of these Official Rules due to an act of God, hurricane, war, fire, riot, earthquake, terrorism, act of public enemies, actions of governmental authorities outside of the control of Sponsor (excepting compliance with applicable codes and regulations) or other force majeure event will not be considered a breach of these Official Rules.
