About the Artist

The electric and eclectic Latin dance outfit Los Amigos Invisibles calls its music gozadera (party music) - a combination of euro-dance, disco, jazz, rock and electronica. Their 1995 debut album, A Typical and Autoctonal Venezuelan Dance Band, was a hit in their homeland, due in part to their relentless touring and a series of underground dance parties the band hosted at clubs throughout Caracas. In 1997, the band relocated to New York to escape a devastating fiscal crisis in their once prosperous homeland. While fortunes at home declined, their fortunes in the US were better than ever. Soon after their arrival in New York, Los Amigos Invisibles signed with David Byrne's (Talking Heads) Luaka Bop and quickly released their US debut, The New Sound of the Venezuelan Gozadera, in 1998. Since then, the lounge-fink of Venezuela's premier party band has served as the space-age bachelor pad music of choice for those in the know. Gozadera was followed up with Arepa 3000: A Venezuelan Journey Into Space.
