Music, Book, and Lyrics by Stephen Karam

Emma, a BrownbrokerÆs musical based on the Jane Austen novel, debuted last fall at Brown University. An annual mainstage show, the BrownbrokerÆs musical is produced, written, performed, designed, and directed entirely by students.

Stephen Karam is currently a junior at Brown University, where he is an English major. A three-time winner of the Blank Theatre CompanyÆs National Playwriting Competition, his three winning plays have received professional productions in Hollywood, California, at the Second Stage Theater and at the Falcon Theatre in Burbank, California. His first screenplay was recently optioned, and in 1999 he was named a winner in Young Playwrights Inc.Æs National Playwriting Competition and received a staged reading of his play off-Broadway. As an actor, Mr. Karam has worked professionally under the direction of Pulitzer Prize and Tony-winner Jason Miller and at St. Vincent Theater in Pennsylvania. He is currently studying abroad at Oxford University.
