ETHEL
About the Artist
Comprised of four Juilliard-trained composers and musicians, ETHEL looks like a string quartet but plays like an energetic rock band. Described as everything from idiosyncratic to eclectic to avant-garde, ETHEL’s sound is a blend of blues, jazz, rock, and even commercial jingles and pop. ETHEL has collaborated with many contemporary artists, including Yo-Yo Ma, Ornette Coleman, the Gorillaz, Sheryl Crow, and Lenny Kravitz. With more than 300 shows logged, including appearances at countless festivals, ETHEL’s contemporary sound and high-energy performances are well known world-wide. Part of CrossCurrents: Contemporary Music Week.
